Equicell supplies fresh aseptically collected animal blood including Horse Blood and Sheep Blood from stress free donor animals. These blood products are supplied in both bottles and bags for convenient addition to culture media. Other products include a range of blood with various anticoagulants e.g. Citrate, Alsevers, Sodium Oxolate, Heparin and EDTA. Also a range of animal based serum and plasma products are available.

Equicell is based in rural Victoria.

About Chris Taylor

Chris has a background in microbiology and for many years was involved in the commercial production of culture media. One of the crucial requirements of culture media is a reliable and consistent source of high quality sterile animal blood. Part of the operation was developed to provide the necessary consistent source of high quality animal blood products.

Chris left the industry to pursue some academic interests. In 2002 he returned and recognised a gap still existed in the market for not only a reliable and economic source of high quality animal blood, but also one that only uses donor animals. As a result a purpose built farm was established and an onsite processing laboratory was built.

Chris has a keen interest in traceability and compliance systems; these have become an integral part of the Equicell Products management processes. Chris also lectures in these systems in a leading Australian university as well as overseas.

Traceability and compliance processes are very important issues in cGLP ( code of Good Laboratory Practice) and cGMP (code of Good Manufacturing Practice), Chris is currently active in research in these areas and will be posting articles on this site from time to time.
